This one is a bit different. akilah12902 https://tmblr.co/mmG9gp3S698rFJImW-pcxgg and I had been working on A Wake https://archiveofourown.org/works/38162974 for kind of a while, and had stalled out a bit on it despite bittylildragon https://tmblr.co/mFZ-dyX2gnK2QUR8N-lH5pA‘s excellent beta-editing help. And then BLD was feeling poorly and to take his mind off things, started watching Witcher 2 playthroughs again, and brought up what a compressed time-frame that’s all happening within. Like, dang that’s. That’s a short time! So then we got talking about how, surely, Geralt and Iorveth had to have fucked too, sometime in there. And what would that look like? Iorveth uses such flimsy pretexts to get Geralt to tie him up and pretend he’s a prisoner, too— oh well, that had us off to the races in the groupchat.

And akilah12902 https://tmblr.co/mmG9gp3S698rFJImW-pcxgg and Tumblr won’t let me tag eatingcroutons https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/eatingcroutons were also gonna work on it but poor crou had an incident with a pigeon and assorted other life goings-on, so they mostly were there for suggestions and debates and a lot of groupchat energy. Mostly it was a really pleasant way to be there for one another in the notes and groupchat during some of this early-spring darkness.

“Let’s say that they captured you and cut your clothes and armor off you above-deck, so you’ve been forced to come down here half-naked, with your muscles rippling as you swing a stolen sword at the remaining guards.”

“Is that how it would go,” Geralt said, deadpan. He could tell this was flirtation, even as confused as it was with—well, everything else about this situation. And since it was flirtation, he wanted to be seen as interested.

But he didn’t know how to play-act. He wasn’t a performer like Jaskier—maybe he’d played out stories as a kid, he couldn’t remember. For a moment he cast about, desperate not to turn Iorveth down by silent refusal.

Slowly, looking at Iorveth all the while, he lifted his shirt off over his head, then hung it on the bars of the cell.

“Yes,” Iorveth said, gaze admiring now as it rested on Geralt’s body. His chin was still tipped up, his throat a sharp plane in the poor light of an oil lamp hung nearby. “But now go away, you’re to come rescue me.”

BLD: Goooddddddddd it’s fucking edgy as hell if they do that roleplay in the barge where Ciaran was held and tortured by humans with Ciaran himself downstairs recovering or on deck recovering while Geralt and Iorvet fuck in one of the cells I dunno about that

B: oh jeez yeah wellll sometimes edgy is like. where the emotional punch is maybe that’s what it takes to get iorveth worked up enough to ask for it

BLD: I like that Iorveth is like. So fucking in his feelings right then betrayed AGAIN, then unexpectedly aided by another witcher, then having to spend a week or weeks in a barge where a LOT of torture has occurred to Iorveth’s comrades

B: right????? like, he’s old, he’s mature, he knows better than to be Messy, but then like—- fuck— it’s just so much to be feeling

BLD: it is and geralt has. sort of. proven himself. and maybe. maybe can help.

B: god that sort of thing is hard to resist

BLD: so if Geralt is offering sex….. why not just…play with what Iorveth is feeling anyway….

B: and it could even start sort of like– he didn’t mean for that but like– there they are in one of the cells and iorveth sort of slips on one of the chains and is like would you rescue me? and geralt is like what— and then is like– fuck, yes, i’d rescue you, and they go from there

A: 👀

BLD: YESSSSSSSSSS

BLD: So yeah, rescue is like. A HUGE part of Geralt’s actions in this game he does it like 4 or 5 or more times before getting to this point on the barge with Iorveth and there are times when he CAN’T intervene and can’t fix things

B: so it stands to reason that he’d rescue emotionally compromised men by giving them mental-health-affirming sex
