Morvran gets a hug.

It’s a Fit For Pearls chapter update and it was only as I was doing the final edits that I realized you don’t see the hug, it’s Geralt’s POV and he’s on the other side of a door at the time, but you hear the hug, so I promise it’s there. There’s also the first beginnings of very awkward flirting.

“I think the city is very beautiful,” Morvran offered diffidently. He didn’t have his blithe courtier face on, not yet anyway, despite the makeup. “I have had the liberty to wander around it, a few times, and have found many things to admire. I am sure you have seen many places, but.”

Ciri looked hopefully at him, and Geralt kept his expression neutral, but Morvran fumbled. “I’d– that is, some time– I could– I could arrange to–” He was blushing under the powder. “I or, or someone, could contrive to– to show you some of the sights. If you had time for such a thing.”

Geralt held his tongue, pretended he wasn’t there. This was a far cry from the arrogant bluster Morvran had affected on first meeting Ciri, and it sounded more genuine. “Maybe you could,” Ciri said, a little shyly.

Morvran looked away. “I, well. I do know where the important things are.” His expression went solemn. “I don’t– I don’t have exactly an artistic eye, I don’t know that anyone else would admire the things I think most beautiful. There are much more poetic sorts who would be able to tell you what you ought to look at, here.”

“What do you think is the most beautiful part of the city?” Ciri asked, encouraging.

“Oh,” he said, “everyone says the view from the east over the river bank with the golden tower is the finest one in the city.”

“But is it your favorite?” Ciri asked.

“No,” Morvran admitted. “I really like– there’s a bridge, rather high up, and if you stand at the top of it around sunset you can get this fantastic light sometimes, and it paints all the buildings along the waterfront, and– well, I won’t say it’s the most beautiful, I’ve a soul of wood apparently, but I find it very satisfying to look at.”

Ciri laughed. “A soul of wood! I doubt a soul of wood would climb a high bridge just for the quality of the light.” (Your picture was not posted)
