@millicentthecat tagged me again for the 7 sentences WIP thing and you know, I did it before, but I effed it up and forgot to tag people, and also I posted the WIP in question, so. I’m doing it again.
(and isn’t this snippet fabulous? It’s Dark!Rey trying to seduce Finn to the Dark Side and it’s so innnnteresting.)
This is from the thing that’s… after the story after Can’t Go Home This Way, which is… a nebulous series of semi-fluffy things, really. And this genuinely is page 7 and 7 lines down! I was quite pleased when I realized where the excerpt fell. So pleased, in fact, that you’re getting more than 7 sentences of it. Of course.
In which Rey and Jess Pava have a Girl’s Night. (And, of course, discuss birth control methods, and how hot it is when finn and poe fuck.)
“Maybe I’ll want kids someday,” Jess said, “but I sure don’t today.”
“I’ll drink to that,” Rey said, and drank from the bottle, and Jess tried not to think about how Rey’s mouth would taste. Rey had asked for friends, and Jess was good at friends, even if that was mostly what she got up to nowadays.
She and Karé were pretty tight, and they’d slept together a few times, but Karé was Poe’s age and sometimes made Jess feel silly and unpolished. And sometimes she was a little bit mean about Jess sleeping with other people, even though they weren’t exclusive– not that Jess was sleeping around, but that her taste in other partners was somehow sub-par because she was young and dumb. And mostly Karé didn’t say stuff like that, but there was just enough of it that it made Jess feel sort of icky.
And there just plain weren’t enough people on this base to find good consequence-free bedmates. And Jess, it turned out, was kind of not into no-strings sex with just anybody.
“So how do you keep from getting pregnant?” she asked, in an excess of moodiness maybe, or maybe it was just her supreme talent for shoving her foot in her mouth.
Rey blushed a little, and pulled her lips into her mouth, then looked very slightly amused. “There’s only one thing that makes babies and it’s a thing I don’t really want to do anyway, so I just– don’t do that one thing,” she said.
“Oh!” Jess said, genuinely surprised.
“I sleep with them, with both of them,” Rey said, “and sometimes there’s some– things that go on. But mostly I don’t– want to. And I don’t know enough to know if that’s weird, but they don’t seem to think so, so.”
“Do they,” Jess asked, but not even her awkwardness would let her blurt out any more of that question.
Rey grinned, a little bashful but not at all repentant. “Yes,” she said. “They’re really– they’re really really pretty together.”
This time I’m tagging @thesacredreznor, @deputychairman, @galadhir, @magickedteacup, @kimya-gee, and, hmm– well, that was just sort of a trawl back through whoever interacts with me who I think is writing things, so if those things are true and I missed you, then you should consider yourself tagged, and tag me back so I read it.
