another chapter update.

chapter four is slightly shorter than my average but i like to think it packs an extra punch. i really do think it’s pretty good. i should’ve just put in another thousand words of Jaskier though because I miss him so.

YES it has a Jaskier Intermission as the first half of it. BY THE WAY. And yeah I could’ve thrown in a thousand words of Jaskier getting absolutely railed but I did not, I am sorry. Ah so I left space, for you to imagine it yourself. That’s what that’s for. Who is railing Jaskier? You’ll have to read to find out.

“Marvellous,” the Princess said. She turned her attention back to the Emperor. “You said there was some matter of the grain trade that you wanted my advice about?”

The Emperor raised an eyebrow. “I wanted to advise you,” he said, “upon the situation, so that should it arise again after my departure you have an established precedent to guide you.”

“Ah,” the Princess said brightly, “I see. Well, you’d better tell me, then. You know how I dote upon your wisdom.”

“How is it,” the Emperor said levelly, “that your grandmother has been dead for ten years, and you still can do such a perfect impersonation of her?”

“I have many talents,” the Princess said. “But don’t waste my time, you know how much I have to do this afternoon. Explain to me how grain trading works here in these barbarous southlands.”
