I was trying to fall asleep despite the pain in my stupid hip and I could
hear the washing machine repetitively making a weird noise and that the dog
was upset about something. I kept hearing her toenails clicking around and
then she’d sort of “boof!” “boof!” like, she couldn’t bring herself to
quite *bark*, but. Almost. And I was like, if I ignore this, it will go
away.
But after an hour, she was still doing it every so often, so I finally was
like, fine. I have to go see why the washing machine is doing that, and
then figure out what the dog’s deal is.
She was delighted to see me and danced frantically around and went to the
door. She needed to go out, I guess? Why? Who knows. It was 11:30 pm.
I let her out. She vanished instantly. I went and looked at the washing
machine. It was running a self-cleaning cycle. I didn’t know it could do
that but obviously, that’s something someone set it to do, and had it go
overnight so it wouldn’t be occupied when someone wanted to use it. Fine,
it’s fine.
Dog hasn’t come back. Where the fuck is the dog. I get my phone flashlight
and go outside. I don’t want to yell for her, I’ll wake up everyone in the
house. No sign of her in the front yard, no sign of her behind the house.
No sign of her in the barnyard. I am not going on a fucking hike at
midnight looking for the dog.
I went upstairs, and lay in bed for an hour, worrying about the fucking
dog. I just went down again, and looked all around the house. No fucking
sign of the dog!
Guess what, dog, you live outside now. It’s a lovely night, not too hot
finally, but not cold. I am terrified she’ll get into some trouble, or go
in the road, or something, but there is nothing I can do. I should not have
let her out, but I could not sleep with her barking, so. Who fucking knows
what strange urge came over her, and I hope she’s all right in the morning.
Fucking *argh*.
I should’ve taken something for my hip while I was down there, though. :(
