You totally could remake that denim jacket. I’m also sizing this jacket up because it’s so teeny that as a theatre costume no one would be able to use it so I’m adding 3” to each side under the arms and putting godets in the sleeves. I may also make an empire dress to go with it since I appear to have the time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
oh yes, i have a denim jacket given to me just for the fabric, but it’s not as useful as just a pair of jeans in that respect, and there are some details on it, well– it’s a zipper closure, and like a size 10, so i need to add panels to the front, sides, and back, i think, and just if i’m remaking it into something entirely other, i think i can go ahead and do that. (the sleeves are probably the only thing that remotely fit.) so i’d been trying to think of a way to remake it, and something this drastically different would be really fun. it’s a medium wash denim so i could probably use gold brocade and detailing for all the other things, though i’m also tempted to give it a rinse in some deeper blue dye to try to make it dark wash first, as then there’d be more contrast… that also could help me make the expansion panels match.
i did not bring it with me here though so it’s not a project i can currently work on, so i’ll just leave all this as a record that i did have some ideas for it. i may not have the sewing skill to do it anyway, but i love the idea.
