Girl is feeling needy, so her mother is holding her on her lap while she sits at the computer helping the boy with a worksheet.
“This child has melted,” MathMom observed, as Girl’s joints all loosened and she flopped farther down into her lap. “She’s mostly liquid.”
“I think you have to hold her until she remolds,” I said. “Sort of try to bake her?”
“Hmm, you think I shouldn’t whip her until she forms stiff peaks?”
“I think that’s a bit more old-fashioned than this household’s really going for,” I said.
