I was incorrect, Dr. Friend got home last night sometime after 10 and when i thought he was sleeping in this morning, he had in fact already gone back in for his scheduled 7am start time.

It wasn’t until I had him for a friend that I realized that doctors have far shittier schedules than waitresses or retail staff.

Yeah, it's horrible under normal circumstances, which these aren't. I wrote a doctor colleague from my last job and she's working 18 hour days. And she's a dermatologist (but it's all hands on deck; we're in a big city). Nurses work 12 hour shifts. There are breaks, but I just don't understand why we expect humans to function well like this.
