So we made it! After about two hours’ weather delay this morning, we flew on the tiniest plane I’ve ever been on (the first photo is our “the heat is not on in this plane” selfie) to Isafjördur, which is amazing– the first video is sort of boring takeoff but then I have three consecutive videos at the end of the landing, where the pilot has to hook around and then drop straight down onto a tiny airstrip tucked along the side of a fjord.
Then we had to drive a couple of hours on snowy roads tucked along the sides of four fjords, and then down an unplowed gravel road, and now we’re at this great guesthouse with hot springs and horses and really friendly dogs and an African grey parrot that says “hello” in a creepy voice when you’re not looking.
It just started snowing really hard when we got here so leaving might be hard but I’m not worried about it, they’ve already said they’ll feed us. (at Heydalur)
