i can *only*do math that way and an improbably high percentage of the time I’m right but the rest of the time I’m hilariously awfully bad, but since I can’t do basic arithmetic I have no way of knowing this. So I just blurt out an answer and go with it, and sometimes it’s fine and sometimes i have four hundred goddamn servings of pasta because I actually legit can’t math.
Lol oh myy god. You’re that text post that bought all the pasta and is now $10,000 in debt aren’t you. They key is to just pretend really hard that it was absolutely on purpose and not just a freak accident.
I’m so used to just blurting out an answer that people sometimes forget that I Literally Can’t Math and so will just take me at my word, because I sound like i know what I mean. And I assume that since they can Do Math they’d notice if I was wildly wrong, and so they’d correct me, and don’t realize that they have forgotten that I am literally incapable of arithmetic.
So sometimes they take me inappropriately seriously and they’re like, “wait, we needed to make half of 250, why are there 400 things here?” and I’m like “so you’re telling me that’s not half of 250.”
(To be fair it’s usually more complicated than that. Like, this recipe serves 7 and calls for 5 cups but I’m making it for 2 instead, and I’m like, then you need 3/5 of a cup, and we go for it, and I have literally no idea whether that’s correct.)
