Hit him where it hurts, Cassandra! (Apollo is the WORST.)
THIS IS THE BEST MYTHOLOGY COMIC I’VE EVER SEEN HOLY SHIT
[image description because the crossposter breaks images: a comic about the character of Cassandra, who in the Iliad is a Trojan seer cursed by the god Apollo to have true visions but never be believed when she prophesies; in the comic, she uses this to execute sick burns upon Apollo.]
So, a brief hijacking: a woman I used to do roller derby with, and so still follow on various social media sites, has gone through various hustles in the last five or whatever years since we last skated together, and her latest thing is that she is a Motivational Speaker and Life Coach. And her name is Cassandra. And I’m like… Cassandra… is telling you… what to do with your life… and I am absolutely struggling with my overwhelming need to put that into a book as a plot point, just– a life coach named Cassandra, everyone would say that’s way too pointed, right?
but the best part is that when we were skating together, I talked to her about how cool her name was, right? like. from the Iliad, that’s hardcore. And she… didn’t know. She was named after an aunt or something, she had no idea it was from Classical Mythology. She was sort of dismissive and not super into the conversation, so we moved on.
So this woman. In real life. Is a life coach. Named Cassandra. Who doesn’t know why that’s funny.
I don’t think i could put that into a work of fiction in a succinct and functional way that anyone would believe, so. Free to a good home, here. Someone, please use it, and then tell me you did so I can rest.
