Oh before i forget all of it: i survived the two plane ride portions of our 30+ hour journey yesterday by watching movies on the in-flight TV, which had an excellent selection. I had, on the way from Istanbul to Bishkek, watched the Infinity War movie, which was terrible, but I hadn’t explored any more than that.
On the first leg, Bishkek to Istanbul, I watched Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising, which was fun. They were both fun movies, kinda breezy but that’s how I find movies mostly; rock-em sock-em feelgood stuff. Both Idris Elba and John Boyega were fantastic. God, Boyega’s got a voice I could listen to all day; it was only hammered home when I accidentally started the movie in Turkish and his voiceover was dubbed in by a sort of reedy-sounding Turkish speaker. Come on, Turkey, you’re a bigger market than that, surely you have a nice baritone you could dig up somewhere for this.
On the second leg, which lasted approximately thirty years, I watched:
Inception (I was more than halfway done with the movie by the time we took off)
The Martian
Wallace And Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit
Atomic Blonde
I thought there were more than that but I can’t remember any.
They censored the swear words out of the Martian, but not out of its subtitles, and they censored the makeout scenes between Charlize Theron and Sophia LaBoutelle in Atomic Blonde, and I’ve no idea if they censored the others but Wallace and Gromit had a lot more racy stuff than I expected, including a naked human male ass in claymation which is really not what I was prepared for.
Yeah now i really gotta go do some laundry.
