So possibly the most doable project on my list is that I wanted to get some travel towels– the compact quick-dry kind that take up less room in luggage than the normal cotton terry kind– and I was shopping around and they all look… I dunno. The quick-dry microfiber polyester ones just seem like… that’s the kind of thing you dry your glasses lenses with, not your ass. They’re not very absorbent and i get that’s why they dry so fast, they don’t actually absorb any water they just remove it from you and then it dries off them quickly, but. It’s not appealing. And yeah they’re odor-proof because there’s nothing organic in them so there’s nothing for bacteria to eat.
I dunno. I decided I was going to make my own travel towels out of linen, because I have some linen fabric I was going to use to make a dress but then I found a dress for sale instead and let’s be real I’ll never get around to properly making a dress.
But cutting this fabric in half, and sewing a hem at the raw edges? Shit, I’ll probably serge it and then turn it under and topstitch it, I won’t even do proper blanket corners or anything.
I can probably manage that. But we’ll see.
The real challenge, I guess, is if I make them little net cases to be carried in rolled-up, which is what the fancy microfiber plastic towels come in…
