el wifi no es bueno

the wifi doesn’t work in my hotel room, which like, wahh wahh rich people problems, but it does mean i don’t really get on tumblr much. i am doing well and only got a little sun poisoned and getting to eat patacon con todo has more than made up for it. i think i’m going to a modern art museum today? good times.

incidentally i accidentally started playing pokemon go but not really, i’m using a friend’s backup account to get them some kind of juice you get only in this region maybe? idk? but i have a whole limited knowledge of pokemon thing where it’s funnier if i don’t know anything, which is interacting extremely well with how the app never fucking explains anything, so i’m just sort of bewilderedly wandering around Cartagena spinning pokestops and catching monsters that i then have to release because the account’s storage is mostly full. the reason i’ve kept doing it is that it makes me look at a map, which means i know my way around mostly. somebody put pokestops like, everywhere around here so i can reach three from my hotel room, so it’s hard to resist the lure of easy phone sparkly and i just keep spinning the thingies and then my item storage is full so i have to go throw pokeballs at creatures to make room in my item storage but then my pokemans storage is full so i have to harvest their organs and sell them to the circus and i am just terrible for the environment, aren’t i. fortunately they are fictional.

In nonfictional news, I am delighted by every single linen garment I made myself for this trip and have plans for more, which will likely be derailed by my returning home to discover that uh it’s fukken cold there right now and henceforth.

don't back into a parking spot, but why the fuck do you care if i do, if it makes you mad, you're the one with the fucking problem, i hate that you have to drive in this country, i love driving, most drivers are fucking shit at it though, including anyone who's like weirdly mad at people for parking carefully, fuck off

I have spent far too much energy in my life trying to figure out why people do this, and I am no closer to an answer.

When I worked in the office, I backed in because pulling out and going straight to the road home was >_< [that much] quicker than backing out and the extra turn 😅

At least it felt like it.

I think it started during a snowy week and I just ran with it.

Because when you’re backing in you have a mirror to guide you on each side to tell you you’re going in evenly and then it’s easy to drive out again because you have full visibility in front of you.

If you just drive into a spot, you can’t see the lines on either side of the car to ensure you’re going in evenly with enough distance on both sides of the car, and then when you’re leaving you have to back out and hope that your visibility is good enough to see behind you as you try to ease out backwards into traffic.

because backing out of a parking spot is dangerous because y'all crazy people drive like idiots and fully will not notice me and will hit me. if i’m facing out, i can see you whipping by, you savages. (at work there are plate glass windows, i can watch reflections of the whole plaza before i move. can’t do that in my mirror. OR my nonexistent backup camera.)

tl;dr it’s a lot safer, and if you’re so unaware of that that you post crazy-eyes selfies demanding to know why, i think you’re probably part of the problem, now aren’t you. maybe go take a remedial driving course. (Your picture was not posted)
