so i’m going on vacation today

i mean okay it’s not a huge vacation. we’re going to stay in an AirBnB on the shore of Lake Champlain in VT, for a couple of days. Dude has had a stressful transition to a more intensive job at work– no longer programming, he’s doing coordination stuff that means he’s in meetings a lot and it’s stressful. And I’ve been running my ass off since April back and forth to the farm. So we’re going to go sit in someone else’s house for a couple of days, look at some nature maybe, maybe eat in some restaurants or whatever, and then we’re going to the farm and it’s going to be nonstop turkey shenanigans for like a week, and then we’re coming home.

So we had to board the cat, which is the downside. (Dude’s mom cat-sits but she’s out of town for thanksgiving, so that’s out.)

Yesterday the poor unsuspecting cat had forgiven me for putting flea stuff on her the night before, and for trimming her nails the night before that, and had come to settle down and snooze on my hip, purring. I held her there for a while and then Dude brought the cat carrier over and I just stuffed her into it, and she was So Sad and Betrayed, but didn’t complain much. I felt like a heel, and still do. But we sent her with her water cup and blankie and a heating pad to sit on since she won’t have Lap Time 24/7 like she has lately, and she was fine last time we did this, so I hope she’ll be fine this time. :(

I miss my cat terribly but also, it is time to get out of the house for a bit.

I tried on almost everything in my closet to pick out outfits for my two? three days of Vacation and I did discover, though i’m not going to bring it, that I have a velvet midcalf dress and a velvet blazer in different but coordinating colors, and I even have velvet leggings that would coordinate, so if I wanted to do a head-to-toe velvet look I could super do that. So maybe I’ll have to, for some event here…

but not this vacation. i’m just bringing a velvet blazer i plan to wear like a smoking jacket on the drive, for warmth and snuggle and a little fashion.

Hilariously the season finally broke yesterday. It’s been warm and we’ve still been using our sunporch as a living and dining room, and yesterday suddenly, when i was counting on the weather staying as it has been, so I could hang out some laundry and we could use that room, it was snowing. poor Chita had a snowflake on her face when we dropped her off at the boarding place, because it blew into the carrier while I was transporting her. So we’re gonna go away from a house that’s still in summer configuration, and come back and have to clear off the kitchen table in kind of a hurry because it’s going to be basically december when we get back.
