oh boy.
well, it would be a totally different story, let’s just say, as what i’m writing is the fix-it where everybody gets a chance to be redeemed.
but i mean we’ve already seen what happens when someone Roche cares about gets murdered. He gets unhinged and kills a bunch of people and there are wars and stuff. So like…. probably that, again, only with even less acknowledgement of his actual feelings or any of it, and even more insistence that this is all patriotic fanaticism.
so, it’d be a real dark story, and a bunch of mess and violence.
bonus: very likely Faengil would die too so that’d be an extra lil injection of darkness for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
this is a story that anyone is perfectly free to write if they want, but it’s not a direction I want to spend much time contemplating, honestly!!
the redeeming part though, is that I posed your question in one of my Discords and we chewed that over and got real sad, and someone else was like ok but when Iorveth finally gets a chance to live out his rope bunny fantasies with Roche how is that gonna go, and that was a pleasant, if also slightly traumatic, diversion, and has led directly to me slightly revising the timeline going forward so we can work that in.
(Listen Iorveth loves playing pretend and also being tied up, we have no choice but to go there. But how well do you think Roche is really truly going to cope with, layered atop his utter inability to actually face what his own feelings are on most matters, the prospect of having an elven prisoner tied up for him to “torture”?? do you think this is going to mesh well with the regrets he may or may not acknowledge he has about his conduct in the last couple of wars?? yes let’s do contemplate how recovering war criminals handle kink negotiations.)
