so Sister raises pigs on her farm

anyway. her daughter, 7, went for a sleepover at an adult friend’s house. this friend was helping an older woman clean out her house preparatory for downsizing, and was helping organize an estate sale. the older woman had a large collection of pig-themed items, and Farmkid used some of her piggybank’s quarters to buy a few pig-themed items to give to her friends and her mother.

the punchline of this is why the older woman had a collection of pig-themed items:

in the 60s she’d done some work with the police, and her friends thought it would be funny to give her pig merch.

anyway Farmsister has a silicone potholder shaped like a pig face now, only lightly used. (Your picture was not posted)

a lil concert

So Sister 1 has left, with her husband and dogs and three of the children.

Farmkid’s the only one left. It is much quieter around here, with just her left in this giant rental house to bear the entire burden of the younger generation’s noise obligation. (From the way 1′s kids acted, whether they got fed or not was contingent on a consistent average decible level.)

but she’s holding up her end the best she can. This morning we were all sitting down in the main room, and she was up in the master bedroom suite. At first she was just whistling to herself. Then she was singing, and then she was making a series of noises that sounded eerily like an entire pack of coyotes.

Then the toilet flushed, and we realized that all had been the little concert she was giving as she took her morning constitutional with the door open.

Fortunately she was too busy practicing whistling to hear all of us laughing down in the main room. (Your picture was not posted)
