scheduling, my nemesis

Ha you know the dirty secret about the video games, I think, is that they’re even more ripe to make really squishy fanfic about because there’s 1) more canon, but it’s 2) slightly less narratively-satisfying because of various reasons.
I didn’t actually mean to get into Roveth but I figured it made sense to throw in a line about them into the background of the political intrigue bullshit in the Ciri story, and then I was like “but. oh. that’s really juicy.” LOL.
It might be even more friendly to non-game fans because I myself am not a huge game fan so I’ve spent a lot of attention on making little on-ramps to know what tf I’m talking about, largely to ensure that I knew what TF I was talking about.
All that said, I’d been updating Roveth on Mondays and Ciri on Fridays and I did not get an update out yesterday because of several factors, not least of which being that I took a break and collaboratively wrote an almost 12k-long chunk of backstory to get yet more of the Political Intrigue Bullshit squared away– so what’s going to happen this week, I think, and I hate to do this, is that I’m going to do a double Roveth update because the next chapter, I realized to my dismay, is a single 11,000-word long scene that for my own sanity I’m going to have to split in half, so I’m going to update it on Friday and then again on Monday probably, and then in the meantime I have to work my ass off on Ciri because that story got set aside for the Backstory Chunk and so now I’ve posted through my backlog and whoops the next “chapter” is actually just a big chunk of unconnected scenes, which I have to assemble into something.
I’m aware that most readers are not particularly hung up on chapter lengths or update schedules, but I am, so this is how I’m attempting to maintain my own sanity. (Your picture was not posted)
