Listen, I don’t even go here but this made me feel all my feelings
I DON’T GO HERE EITHER lol These are characters from a video game I not only didn’t play, but can’t really stand to watch the playthroughs of (sorry guys the voice actors are like– in a cardboard box seeing the script for the first time? and I am Not Wild about the graphics either), but– the king was assassinated, his bastard daughter was rescued by his former special forces commander, and this is the aftermath, and I know that much of the themes of the books and to an extent the games are about how leadership corrupts people and how horrible war is and how it destroys everything forever BUT
I just want an old soldier to be able to find some peace and use the bitter lessons he learned to make it a little easier on the next generation, maybe. I want to instead take away the lesson that even things that have been ruined aren’t necessarily irrevocably turned to evil, and that good things can grow from ruins, and that even a hard man who did hard and brutal war things can repent and redeem himself and do better. like… an ACTUAL redemption kind of deal, where you SEE what you did wrong and you LOOK AT IT and you make a CONSCIOUS choice to FIX what you can and DO BETTER.
Anyway I care because I do like the game that was a sequel to this one, and there’s a rich vein of characterization to tap into, but the sequel really missed out on like actually addressing anything the middle game brought up and anyway I want to fix it all. (Your picture was not posted)
