I never got a 3/3 so I am dying for a punchline here!

my family, the Denisons basically got kicked out for being too puritan (all but the oldest son who was an anglican minister apparently and stayed behind), came over on the Lion in 1631, wee George grows up and gets married and has a couple of babies then his wife dies and he runs back to England and fights in the civil war that’s going on, joins Cromwell’s Ironsides, fights at Naseby and Marston Moor and gets injured at whichever one came second I forget, runs away to Ireland to recuperate in a sympathizer’s house, and then marries the guy’s daughter and brings her back to Massachusetts, whereupon his dad and brother get kicked out for being antinominanists so George has to move and winds up in Stonington, and he leads the secession of his small town from Connecticut to Massachusetts. When the king gets reinstated he looks and is like “why’s there a jagged line here” and makes it straight enough and bam Stonington’s back in CT so out of spite George gets himself elected to whatever governing body they had at that point, serves antagonistically until he dies at 87 during a session and they have to bury him in Hartford at their expense, and his tombstone is there to this day.

Somewhere in there he also fought in King Philip’s War, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Philip%27s_War which we literally do not learn one tiny bit about in US history even though it’s super fucking important. Like genuinely we’re like “ah the Pilgrims landed and the Wampanoags who were gentle nature spirits welcomed them with like drum circles and idk hugs and shit and kept them alive and it was great and they were friends and then the English mumblety murdered them all in their sweet innocent beds and they didn’t fight back and it was destiny anyway the English desecrated the noble savages and it was manifest destiny and it was so long ago” and like… that does nobody any justice, there was already a complicated political situation going on, they were PEOPLE with LIVES, they weren’t innocent or naieve or stupid, and they very much did fight back and it was not a foregone conclusion, the English were not really superior in any way but eventual numbers and, specifically, guns, and the course of history might easily have gone very differently and also they’re NOT all dead and gone and it’s worth studying TO THIS DAY. So, there’s that. But.

I researched all this in like 2003 and have forgotten the details, but the point remains, shit was fascinating and remains relevant and it’s just fucking stupid that I had to do like five units on Columbus and fucking Vasco da Gama when I could have learned about my own region and my own ancestors and not been fucking clueless but no we have to find this out on our own if we even ever do that!

Anyway I want to know the punchline of your origin story there but it did not arrive.
