side note: I posted that picture of Troy’s Civil War monument on Saturday morning and geotagged it at the farmer’s market (the market is all wrapped around the sidewalks of Monument Square and it’s lovely), and I am L I V I N G at how many local business owners are liking that post, politics and all. 

(If you’re local, BTW, Troy Kitchen is a fabulous local business owned by a very motivated and competent and young Black man; if you go, he’s probably the one in the exquisite suit either behind the bar or talking to the various food stands’ employees. I forgot his name, but my sister knows him.)

is it a great sign of progress or a depressing sign of how shitty the world is that both my high school and my university are sending all the alumnae messages about their new special committees that they’ve set up to deal with eggregious sexual abuse by faculty of students in the past including, in both cases, while I was a student there (15 and 20 years ago, respectively)? 

i wish my university wasn’t doing it all in 18-point bold font too…

(let’s be fair, it’s not really simultaneous, my high school resolved it over the winter and my university only just had the scandal break on international news media.)
