dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (Default)

ugh there is a post on my dash that i have blocked fifty times now i think and it’s just, somehow it’s different enough every time I guess that it sneaks through? It’s all one person, and this person is reblogging answers to a thing, I think, but it’s long photo posts, really long, and it’s like– just by volume, it’s half my fucking dash.

Sorry if I missed anything from anybody but I just can’t get through it, I block the post and lose my place and try to scroll around and there’s the post again.

It’s at times like this that I think in future I’m going to just block every post I see, even if I like it, to cut down on how much of my time on Tumblr is just scrolling past the same post over and over. I like the idea of reblogging because it does mean that you see things you otherwise wouldn’t, but for some people that’s literally all the site is for? And I don’t want to cull anyone, but the sheer volume of duplicated shit is so overwhelming.

The person reblogging these long image posts over and over is also a fascinating generator of original content at times, and has led me to many great discoveries, good fic and excellent art and great points of view. but today they’re obsessed with reblogging this one fucking image post, and if only fucking PostBlock would catch it, but it’s clearly reading every iteration as a different post. Oh my god.

I hate this website. And everyone’s nostalgic for replies but you know, I couldn’t reply to replies, so they were kind of more frustrating than anything else? I used replies to leave a note on someone Tumblr-famous’s posts, like a drive-by that didn’t need response, because of that, and I won’t use messaging for that instead because I wouldn’t message a famous person unless they explicitly were down with that. But I do use the messaging more with mutuals, so I guess that’s cool.

Well, instead of a year-summing-up post, I think I’ll just share this picture of my cat who has me trapped in my own bed with her paws covering her face.

Inorite? Ain’t that some shit? My grandparents would have this shit taken care of quick fast and in a hurry because they need to get back home in time to watch their show, and they have to be in bed by 9pm.

@jabletown says   #I super want to write a chosen one epic fantasy novel with an old woman, and I say she needs to be damned sure I know when her kickstarter goes live.

I mean, for what it’s worth, @marthawells ’s novel Wheel of the Infinite featured an older woman with an adult son. She’s the heroine, the all-powerful mage destined to save the world, and she totally gets the hot young barbarian assassin, and the book did so badly it almost tanked Wells’s career.
So maybe that’s why the prophecies tend not to pick older ladies…
But if you really for real want to read such a book, it’s available as an ebook, though I’m not sure from where anymore, I got my copy a while ago while Wells was still working through the trauma of e-book-formatting it. Google it. Martha Wells, Wheel of the Infinite. It’s a solid read.
