the Lair

The basement sewing room shall henceforth be known as the Lair.
I am totally pumped about how much room is down there. I mean, shit yo. I could have three, maybe four sewing machines set up at all times. That would rock so hard. And there's all this storage room. I could really make the most of that. I can get me some nice plastic boxes and some more silica gel packets from work, and can store my fabric nicely sorted and clean that way. Plus the ironing board right there, and the washer and dryer right over there, and there's just no reason for fabric to get out of hand at all. So great! Liesl even gave me one of those nice wooden racks meant to hold spools of thread, which I could keep right by the sewing machine... And the chest of plastic drawers I got for Pennsic fits perfectly under the old wooden table down there... And and and. Exciting ideas of not being a total slob, y'know?
Been measuring everything and drawing it out on graph paper preparatory to moving any furniture... because I don't really feel like moving any furniture tonight... But it's a good opportunity to sketch out a couple of possibilities, and get a feel for how things will fit before I go to all the trouble of lugging things around.

Then maybe I could get the area near the washer/dryer and stove set up for brewing, which i've been dying to do more of... Getting ahead of myself, maybe. But it would help in the overall organized-ness of the house. My random hobbies kind of tend to clutter up my living space a lot. That fridge could relocate a little and make more room in the laundry/pantry area... I could convert the pantry into a proper root cellar with some insulation... I could use the currently space-taking-up counter/cabinet for pantry storage... I could put the disassembled wine rack in the attic together and make part of the junk-cluttered built-in shelves into wine/mead storage... Etc., etc., etc. (I might start brewing cordials as well. And beer-- I've got hops to get through, after all...)

This may all seem sort of basic but I am more or less a slob, so, for me, it's pretty advanced. :) I'm looking forward to actually using all the space in this house of mine, and not being so crowded and cramped and messy all winter long.
Need to do a big purge of belongings, though...

Next step... well, next-next is repaint and set up the office. After that, repaint the kitchen and install better shelving. But after that, insulate the second storey. And then this house will totally rock socks. But I'll need money for all those. Remodeling the basement is free as long as I keep using leftovers like I am.
