change shock

New roommate: my sister arrived yesterday afternoon to finally, finally, after months of moving and going back and forth and tying up loose ends, take up residence in Buffalo.
So Z and I no longer live together alone. Whoa.
Then: we went out to dinner, came home, and spent several hours talking. When I was on my way to bed at last, I glanced out the window.
The world was white.
By this morning we had four inches of snow.
Ground isn't even frozen; I still have a lot of cleaning-up style chores to do in the garden. But suddenly, out of nowhere, it's winter.

Bugger, I can't find the snow brush. Had to use a dustpan and dust brush to clean off the car so Z could go in for a 9 am meeting.

Chita has not yet arisen, but in about an hour when she asks to go outside, she's going to be one sad little kitty. She already blames us for the cold that makes it unpleasant to be outside. She's totally going to think I did this to her on purpose, and she's going to be pi-hi-hissed. Or, to paraphrase from O Brother Where Are Thou, P-I-S-S-O-F-T.

I shall feel her wrath, at any rate.

We've all got some adjusting to do.

I wrote the previous, went on to browse the Internet, and STILL jumped out of my skin when the bedroom door opened and Fi murmured to her cat.
I forgot she was here already.
