dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (Default)

A recording of me singing "She Moved Through The Fair".

This is sort of in response to a comment-thread conversation with [livejournal.com profile] eveiya a while back, where she posted a version of this song. I sing this at the session at Nietzsche's all the time, but I think I'm going to change and start singing the different lyrics [livejournal.com profile] eveiya posted in her blog, because they're less obscure.

I wish she'd come up with some better lyrics for There Was A Maid In Her Father's Garden too, because I sang that one yesterday and people were like, "... I don't get it." It didn't help that I forgot the verse where she says that she has complete faith that her absent lover will return, so it sounded kind of like she was saying, well, you're pretty so I'll marry you instead. It kind of weakened the impact.

Anyway, that's me, singing a session song, but in my defense I'll point out that it was recorded while I was driving, so I was holding the cellphone by the steering wheel, and also the road was bumpy. The last line was sung as I turned into the parking lot at Rainbow Rink, which is hella bumpy. So I am normally louder and steadier than that.
