kid on christmas eve eve
Dec. 23rd, 2006 03:20 amThe solstice is the shortest day of the year, but the day after is referred to in Norway at least as the Longest Day Of The Year, for kids. Why? They open presents on the 24th, that's why. So on the 23rd it's customary to give kids comic books or magazines, to divert them for a little while at least.
I am up an hour early to get ready to get on the road because yes, I am that excited about going home for Christmas.
The only piss on my parade is that I had to *snap snap* tell the scheduling manager NOW NOW last night what weeks I wanted for vacation, and I hadn't heard back yet from Andreas about what weeks he's out at sea. I took a wild guess and asked for a week in May and a week in September. I got neither, and had to adjust both later in the month.
Andreas will be out at sea both weeks I got.
