So apparently there's been a photo meme going around, and I thought, "How come I never see the original posts? I only ever see the answering ones..."

The answer, as finally explained by [livejournal.com profile] lenine2, is that there isn't one of those big beginning posts. It's just that you post a line in your lj:

Ask me to take a picture of something, and I'll post it.

So if you've been wanting to see anything of mine lately, especially given how few photos I've done lately, I guess now's the time to request it. :)

I might amuse myself by using this computer's built-in camera, so I apologize in advance for oddly-framed underexposed blurry shots. it's really good at them, I've tested it. :)

I have to go to work now and I shall feel very unloved if nobody wants any photos of anything by the time I get home. :P

I am also very text-smiley today. I don't know what's up with that. I seem to be channeling someone else's writing style. Oh boy! :D Maybe I can channel someone else's waitressing style and forbear from telling any customers to "fuck off" today! That would be nice. My tongue is sore from biting it last week. D-:

Lordy I am tired. Got out of work early, asked Z to come pick me up (stupid *#(&*% bus either leaves at 7:06 or 8:28, and I keep getting out at 7:15. #*@#(*%3!! Pain in my ass), got home, and said, "Hell, I'll go to roller derby practice!" I missed Sunday and it's now mandatory to come twice a week.

My knees are killing me, like burning, like really painful. Ooof. We did a lot of fun stuff-- pushing and whipping, namely, and also baseball slides. Those first two things are two things you can do to help someone else in the pack go faster and pass everyone. My partner was a rather crazy girl known as Anya Fanny, who is a fairly good skater and also has no sense of personal danger whatsoever. So we whipped one another (grab hands, swing other person past you-- no actual whips involved, sadly enough) around that rink like there was no tomorrow. Pushing is simpler and less dramatic-- you come up behind the other person, put your hands on the back of their hips, and shove them. Whipping feels a bit like flying, though. It's a ton of fun.
Baseball slides are a controlled way to fall. Early on, we learned to fall on our knees. That motherfucking hurts, despite the pads-- I always tense up and then it hurts my head when I land on my ass. If you've done it you know what I mean, and if you haven't you won't no matter how I explain it. But it's so unpleasant that I've come to dread drills where we fall down and get up, and it's the only time I consistently wuss out. I. Cannot. Bear it.
But baseball slides? You get up some speed, put one knee down, slide on that knee and put your other skate out in front of you, and then once you've slowed enough, come to rest on the side of your ass. It's really completely painless. So I was psyched to learn how to do that. (It sucks if you're wearing shorts, however. Your skin sticks to the wooden floor, and eventually it pulls your skin off. Do not do this.)

So it was fun but Good God I am tired and sore. I haven't mentioned that one of the girls is a yoga instructor, so she always gives us a thorough cooldown set of stretches, which goes an amazingly long way towards leaving us able to get out of bed the next morning. Seriously, there have been days when at the end of practice, I cannot walk in a straight line, but the next day I can always move relatively freely. I thank Mia for that.

So rollergirls was fun.

Work was ok-- very slow-paced. But the woman who got fired last week had been calling people over the weekend-- including me-- and while I had rather quickly made it plain that I didn't really want to hear her complaints about Senior Cocktail Waitress (whose "vicious rumormongering" got her fired, the woman believes-- she refuses to admit that she has ever stolen anything), she spoke to me mostly of other things. But she had called at least three other employees, mostly bar employees, and had tried the same thing. Why is she doing this? She's not getting her job back. She has said she doesn't want it. But she keeps calling. SCW told me that the next time this woman calls me I should give her SCW's phone number and ask her to set up a meeting in person, because SCW wants to discuss face-to-face exactly what these so-called "rumors" were, how they could possibly have contributed to Fired Woman's dismissal, and most importantly why Fired Woman thinks that it is acceptable to call all her former coworkers to go on and on about this.
So I have to figure out how to frame that one. I won't hear the end of it from either of them, you know. This is what happens of trying to be friends to everyone. FW has a phenomenal capacity for simple denial, while SCW has absolutely no tolerance for it. It's a bad combo, it's why they never got along, and it's why I wish I weren't in the middle of this, but I don't want to have to say, "Don't involve me," because that means I'm condoning it. Which I can't stand either. Maybe Fired Woman's ability to deny everything would extend to forgiving me for pointing out that I saw her steal multiple times with my own damned eyes.
Sigh.

I am trying to unwind enough to go to bed, but it isn't exactly easy. I'm bone-tired, but my blood is still moving, and I just finally ate dinner. Muh. These hours, they are not healthy for me. But the way I've been eating lately (everything in sight is fair game! It's autumn! I gotta put on my hibernation fat!) I really need the exercise.
