This being my Saturday morning, I arose early and have been working all day. I feel sort of good, but also sort of that I haven't actually achieved all that much, which is too bad.
It's wicked hot out. Z's workplace has notoriously bad a/c, to the point that on Friday he just gave up on getting anything done and got a six-pack of beer instead. Because it was that hot.
So today he's IMing me. Apparently he's been attempting to mod the ghetto air conditioner, which involved sort of redirecting some ductwork.
( amusement, with illustrations )
In other news, have begun work in my head at least on a new novel, and also am in the middle of rebuilding the middle section of BarbariansNovel, you know the part where the plot falls apart and makes the ending not work. Yes, that part.
The new novel draws heavily on my current living situation for creative inspiration. i'm just not so good at making real life stuff up. But it's sort of all I have.
What you think? For a contemporary fantasy, if it has a paranormal element, what's cool and what's cheesy? I'm not doing vampires, but I might have a shapeshifter or werewolf-type. I just can't decide. Maybe immortals? I have a lot of really old (non-elf, non-fanfic!!) story ideas kicking around with immortals in them, very different from the usual ones you get, and I might try recycling one in there. It feels like a really really long time since I got to write just a new story from scratch and the shininess is really blinding. Ack. Must. Finish. Previous. Novel. First!
