Day 3 of my new schedule dawned sunny, but has become pretty heavily clouded. Sun's breaking through a bit now...
I have one iris blooming. Same one as last year. I very carefully divided and moved the irises, and have been ensuring that their roots aren't shaded, so they'd bloom, and nope: Same iris as last year blooming, the others are still all just leaves. Oh well.

Peppers have all survived their transplanting, so, I guess that's good.

I have not been productive this week. The three hours it takes me to get to work and wait for work to begin have been spent with my computer set up, but the monitor has been so goddamn touchy, I can't really write much. I have done a fair bit of reading. Barbarians Novel is almst done but needs to be set aside. My next project will be something simpler. No fantasy for a little while. Why does it take so long to write a book when I'm such a fast writer? Bollocks!

Yesterday I just couldn't handle it, and I wound up putting the computer to sleep and curling up in a filthy-floored corner by the phone booths past the baggage claim, and dozed for 45 minutes. I just couldn't get the monitor to stay on, and couldn't read anything.
I'm considering bringing a flashlight so I can read the monitor when it's off. In the past I've had some success just by sitting outside in the sun-- that illuminates the monitor enough that I can read it. I have good eyes; it doesn't have to be bright.

I tried to get it fixed but I couldn't get an appointment at the Mac store yet. Z pointed out that the company I bought my laptop from does take trade-ins. I could trade in my iMac and iBook for a new Macbook!
But I don't think I could relinquish the iMac. I've had it so long through so much... But the monitor is wonky, and the hard drive too small. Could I switch to just a laptop?
I think I could.

I'm considering it. Don't tell my iMac. I have loved it so. (Or, is anybody interested in buying one? I'd sell it cheap to a good home...)
