( Work stuff. Snicker. )
In other news...
Tomorrow I work in the Club, which means a) I can't leave if it's dead, b) it's always dead, and c) nobody tips anyway. Also, it is Super Bowl Sunday and they have almost no flights even scheduled to begin with.
It being the Super Bowl means what people are travelling will be in the bars.
But it also means few will be travelling.
Anyhow. I anticipate a slow shift. So, i am going to print out Chs 1-5 of Viking Novel, and I am going to restructure them. The events will remain, but will probably be shuffled. And the narration is subject to change. I have been showing too little, and telling too much. My research on the period isn't solid enough. And my characters are shaky and inconsistent. So I have to do some serious staring at the whole thing to get it really banged into shape.
And then I'm going to post it up on my redesigned website, and it will be v.3 or so... And then my next chapters will be based off this better beginning, and I will be one more giant step closer to finishing this novel. It is my goal to have the project pretty well wrapped-up by the time Dave gets that piece of paper from RIT that says he's A Smart (and eminently Employable) Boy. Summer 2005, baby, is going to be a time of great achievement. (I damn well hope.)
I just watched Traffic, by the way. One of those lovely and bleak films. I can't believe that Benicio del Toro didn't know Spanish before he took that role. Man, think of how much money the government would make by legalizing and regulating pot. Just think of the money. Think of the criminals it would put out of business. And just think of the tax revenue. That's the only drug besides alcohol I've ever considered doing, but I wouldn't do it because I'd have to associate with criminals in order to get it, and that's just not worth it. No way, man. Pot in and of itself is probably nice and all, but I don't want anything to do with the people that get it.
