ahhh....

I was in an awful mood yesterday, so awful I went and curled up at the foot of Dave's bed and slept there while he did his morning websurfing. (He sleeps in a twin bed, that's not near a wall, so this was a precarious feat of balance.)
When I awoke, it suddenly struck me that I now have a car that's big enough to put a bike into, so we could take our bikes and go for a ride someplace cool that's not Delaware Park (which involves two miles of busy streets to get to it).
I was pondering doing this, and got up and showered (it took longer for Dave to shave his face than it did for me to shower and shave most of my body), and went to eat breakfast/lunch (cold pizza).
Over lunch, Dave suddenly thought, "Why don't we go to Ikea?" There's an Ikea in Canada less than 2 hours away. We thought it over as we ate our pizza, and then he went and looked up directions to it while I got dressed.

So, we went randomly to Ikea. We had a blast, the drive was fun, I think Canada rules (it's like the US in an alternate reality. Everything is just a LITTLE bit weird. I love it there. And the people talk funny, which rules as well. I kept accidentally saying "aboot" and "so-rry" all day, but managed not to offend anyone, which was good. All that bullshit about Canadians being easygoing? I've offended Canadians before, and it's terrifying. Don't ever so much as mention that Americans were present in World War I if you value your impressions of Canadians as easygoing. [I was doing research on the extent of the American involvement's decisiveness. I had concluded that it would have been better had they either joined earlier or never become involved; Versailles wouldn't have happened and WWII may never have happened. But I didn't get a chance to mention that.] Anyway, don't offend Canadians. And I still think it rules there.)
We drove an extra three miles out of our way just to go to a Beer Store to buy Canadian booze for Dave's mom. Because The Beer Store rules.

We returned home in time for dinner in an excellent mood, with Canadian booze (but no Canadian doughnuts: we stopped at Horto's to get those new Toffee flavored donuts we saw on the commercials on the CBC, but they were out. Damn!) and assorted other goodies, such as an odd-shaped ice cube tray, a pan with a deep-fryer insert, and half a dozen pilsener glasses.

Dave's mom told us that the cousin called to say the house is empty on the ground floor, so we went last night after supper and measured the whole damn thing. I should post a PDF of our map. it is truly awesome. We even have all the outlets marked down.

So the moving-out people say that they have to come tonight after work to sweep out the basement and collect some leftover debris from the attic, but other than that there's nothing more they have to do. So, no, they won't really be done until tonight, but we can start doing stuff before they're done.

So, I'm much happier. I am going to go now and reacquaint myself with all my belongings that are in the garage, and figure out which of them I need to see again first. :)

And oh-- Dave just invited me to join Gmail, so I now have a Gmail address that is my lj username. Yay!
