dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (Default)

So I finally got my pictures back, of Katy's wedding.

No, not the digital ones. No. Those are still on a laptop in Georgia. She hasn't made copies of those for anyone yet, as far as I can tell. Certainly not me.

But, the single roll I took of film photos, I got developed. I scanned the 8 of them that were actually visible. (My light meter is on the fritz. Poor old camera. Probably needs a new battery. It's had the same battery since 1996. I've taken hundreds, perhaps thousands, of pictures with it. And I've left it sitting unused for over a year. i can't blame it for fritzing.)

I then cleaned them up-- most of them weren't great. I am regaining photoshop wizardry. It seems to be sort of ingrained now. Guess I've done a bit of it in my time. Wish I were better at it, but I just don't have a good eye for what other people are going to like.

Then I got a mad glint in my eye, and went out into the garage and dug up my box of photos. Most people have a shoebox. I have one of those big rubbermaid tubs.
I scanned a couple hundred photos, all told-- photos of Europe, photos of home, photos of Rochester, photos of pets long-departed, photos of old friends, photos of strange art experiments, and some notable reasonably two-dimensional objects from the old Wall of Shame.

I am involved in the slow process now of cleaning all of those up (man, Photoshop 7's "healing brush" is freaking AWESOME for specks on dark digital photographs) and importing them into iPhoto, from whence I am exporting them to webpages.
I know, autogenerated is kinda lame, but it's so damn fast... I might switch to seeing if Photoshop CS has any better auto-generation for its webpages, or some kind of tie-in to GoLive, which I've been meaning to learn how to use...
Anyhow. Very fun.

I've linked to all my attempts thusfar from this page, which I am using to try to guilt Katy into sending me photos.

I'll be putting up some more later. :) I love photography, I love my photographs, and it's been fun rediscovering them.
I am a big dork.
