dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (hamsterCheeks)
Fool that I am, I'm trying to download the corrupt part of the drivers again. And I'm going to try to install cleanly over the top of the confused part. But I don't believe that it'll work.
I have to have lunch and take a shower and go to Troy, too. I need to be in Valley Falls by 3. I don't think I'll make it, so I'll have to postpone slightly. Hm.
Well, first things first-- lunch.
Man, it takes three or four minutes to load a webpage, with my bandwidth so tied up in downloading that file. Hm.
Mm. there's a cat hair in my sandwich.
So... Zobar called me last night, which improved my mood immensely. He's just so funny.
I kept him up rather past his bedtime, though. Oh well. I haven't laughed that much in weeks. Yes, my life is pretty pathetic. I wish he were coming this weekend, and could bring my computer with him, but that's ok, i can wait for next weekend. I haven't decided what I'll do next weekend, though. Shall I go with him down to New Jersey? Or shall I come back up here and sit around? I spend less money here, but I get much less done. We'll have to see how this week goes. So far, I haven't been annoyed by my parents much, or annoyed them. I don't know how long our maximum period of harmony is.
I have to go down and visit NYU officially, though. Definitely.
Argh.
I lounged around in sloth all morning. A gray, rainy morning, and I'm trying to get over a cold. What better time to lie like a sloth abed, listening to the rain and daydreaming?
I was roused out of bed by the phone, which I answered just before the machine (hurrah!). It was Abbie, with whom I decided to spend the afternoon. We're going to Clifton Park to get crickets. And to pick up applications for Target.
Yes, we're that desperate.

Last night I took a break and read a book full of pictures about Vietnam. No, it wasn't a children's book. It was one of those ubiquitous military history books that's concerned with the details of uniforms and equipment during a campaign. The authors were undeniably of the opinion that Vietnam was a war lost by politicians, as every campaign they described was militarily a success but ultimately pointless. Those books are usually pretty dispassionate, but this one had a faint undertone of bitterness to it that's unusual.
Lots of photos, lots of details, some really funny drawings (the artist they got was great at the uniforms but couldn't draw faces. everybody looks crosseyed. Especially the poor VC. I don't think he was trying very hard for them.)
It was no less grim, but at least I understood what was going on in the pictures. And dad's stories make more sense now that I know what an RTO looks like (he's like a dude wearing a radio bigger than he is) and what the armored personnel carriers look like, and such.

Well, the washing machine is done, so now it's time for Phase Two-- shower!
Hopefully this file will be done downloading when I get out of the shower. That'd be nice.

Sorry, no deep thoughts today. Except I kind of have to go to the bathroom. That's pretty deep.

Spent the evening with Abbie. Entertaining. We went over to Clifton Park, where we blew like 2 hours in the Office Max there. We got a legal pad for Abbie to write Claire's journal for Jackhammer (a fanfic she's doing, for Law & Order), and a clipboard for it, and I got some pens. Pilot P-700 gel rollers. Nice. I was very pleased. I hadn't had a new pen in some time, and for me, they're quite an addiction.
Yes. I'm a total geek. Addicted to 1) books 2) pens 3) other office supplies (notebooks, notepaper, printable postcards, etc) 4)marshmallow Fluff.
Awesome.

Thought of the day from Fiona's IM profile:the pursuit of happiness: )

Zobar's online!!! Sweet. He either got that DSL he ordered, or it's osmosis. He tells me osmosis. I believe him.

Zobar and Abbie and I are going to start a company. It's like, this decade's equivalent of starting a band. Everybody's in one. We've got a writer, an artist, and a programmer. So what should we make?
Here, I'll make a poll.

[Poll #65373]

pxngxnqu: how are you at drawing naked people?
Lxrryxx: Good. You saw my naked people drawings
pxngxnqu: yeah, i did.
pxngxnqu: they're not exactly pornographic, though.
pxngxnqu: hm.
pxngxnqu: maybe that could be our angle.
pxngxnqu: our gimmick, if you will.
Lxrryxx: Non - porno porno?
Lxrryxx: Hm. That doesn't exactly send a shiver up my spine.
pxngxnqu: mine either...
