So I was reminded that my family does in fact personally know a woman who is an Army general, the daughter of my fourth-grade teacher. And of course she is addressed as ma’am.
Meanwhile, my sister the Lt. Col. is currently under consideration for a job that would be a perfect fit for her within the National Guard, for which she is eminently qualified, and which is at the base close to her home (which she purchased in the first place because she was stationed in that base while in active service), but has not been hired because the commander feels she already has too many women under her command and does not want to be suspected of favoritism. !!!!
Anyway. Can I tag this the ma’am chronicles? I dunno man. This is a thing, now. I guess.
(She needs a new job because that’s kind of how the Army works, and military service in general; you’re frequently being rotated around to new positions.)
