chita update
Nov. 3rd, 2007 07:58 amChita loves to sit on the shelves we bought to put in front of the picture window so she could sit on them and people-watch. I am exceedingly pleased by this, because I would've felt very silly if she didn't like them. (We still have not put anything on any of the shelves or in any of the drawers, except for a few pieces of assorted debris from the room... So the shelves are pretty single-purpose-- they're really only there for the cat to sit on.)
She is sitting there now, looking out of the window, or was a moment ago-- but then she turned, looked down onto one of the shelves, and reached in and deftly hooked with her paw to retrieve a plastic wrapped screw-with-plastic-anchor set that came with a plant hook. She pulled it out, held it to her face to investigate it, then threw it on the floor.
She is big, and I keep thinking she's cat-sized, but then I see a full-grown cat and realize that no, she's not. She got her stitches out two weeks ago and the hair has grown back to the point that no scar is visible. (Why didn't they tell me there was more than one layer of stitches? I was so worried she'd pull out the visible stitches and her guts would fall out. I didn't know they'd closed the wound from the inside too! I mean, duh, in retrospect, but I was so surprised when the vet tech showed me the ridge that was the internal stitches that would dissolve. I really am one of those paranoid people that worries too much about stuff!!)
Yesterday morning she decided at 5:30 that it was time to be awake, so she began to walk back and forth across the bed, ask us plantive questions, and climb things disastrously, scattering small artifacts from their places on shelves and windowsills and dressers. Last night she fell asleep at 8 pm, napping contentedly on Z and then me, and then the couch, and then me, and then Z. We took to poking her and shaking her. "Hey," Z kept saying. "Hey. Wake up. It's time to be awake."
But she ignored us.
And yes, this morning, she was there at 6.
It's like she knows Daylight Savings is coming and wants to be sure we're as poorly-adjusted as possible for the time change. It will be 4 am and she'll be cheerfully tickling my nose with her whiskers...
Needless to say, tonight, I will be enforcing a rigorous schedule of Physically Exhausting Playtime.
And look! I finally made a Chita icon! Yes, she's sitting on top of my boobs looking pleased with herself. She thinks that's quite a nice seat, although she's big enough now that she has to usually wedge one hind leg down the front of my bra to brace herself. But she can sleep like that, and does. When she's asleep it's not so bad. When she's awake and demanding attention it's very hard to get anything done.
Hm she is currently writhing around on the living room carpet with her paws in the air yowling for attention. I don't know why I always end up with such talkative whiny cats, except that I talk to them constantly and it's not surprising they learn it. Obviously somebody wants to play, but I don't want to start crashing and thumping around the house with her-- poor Z asked permission to sleep in this morning, and I don't want to tell him yes and then start a ruckus at 8 am. But Chita's kind of removing the optional part of that.
