dragonlady7Auntie and I finished the shirt today!! It is wonderful.
Also she went back and altered the pattern, so if I decide to make myself another copy of the shirt, I can do so without having to alter it at all-- I can just lay out the pattern, and cut the fabric, and sew it according to her modified instructions, and I will have a shirt just like the one I am wearing now.
So tonight I went out to Jo-Ann's and bought far too much fabric (but I got the remnant half-off!) and am going to try to make another version of it, slightly more formal, to wear to Mo's wedding. Also I am going to try to make it longer, to see if that would work. I don't know if it would. But if I make it short, I have to come up with something to wear on my lower half. So I'm going to at least try to see what it would look like.
(I bought a lovely blue brocade with bamboo leaves in silver on it, and there's enough that I could make a matching scarf/shawl thing, if it wouldn't be too weird to have it all match. The reverse is actually not unfinished-looking, so I might just wear it inside-out for the contrast.)
Aren't I crafty? We'll see. I don't have a really good picture of the shirt I made, though, so I'll have to post a picture later.
Suffice to say, it's just about the only shirt I've ever had fit me this well, so I'm really pleased with it. And it only took me... 18 hours or so. D-:
Oh well. Two and a half days, more or less, well spent.
I also went to Barnes & Noble, which is right next to Jo-Anns, and bought myself a copy of Good Omens, because of the fanfic. Yes, because I have read so much slash fanfiction featuring two or more of the characters, I am finally buying a novel.
