Aw man! I told myself that something hilarious someone had said was going to be the title of my next blog posting but I cannot remember what it was that they said!!!
I am reflecting that I remain, after over a decade of way too much Internet, a little funny with Internet etiquette. I'm just not good at consistently answering emails, keeping comment threads straight, dealing with instant-message-chats, etc. I just, I dunno, there's still some hesitance, awkwardness, etc. with me and all that. Dunno what my deal is.
I am having a good day. One good thing is that I see a doctor tomorrow. Yay! I am going to ask her about my knees and my eczema-that-is-eating-my-chest-for-no-reason, and then I am going to set up an appointment for a real live checkup of, like, the rest of me.
Another good thing is that it was not busy at work, and I wore knee braces, so I am not sure which of those two things was the key, but I had almost no pain by the end of my shift, so go me!
And yet a third good thing is that roller derby practice was great tonight, not too strenuous but not boring, and we just seemed to have a very light-hearted kind of time, no matter what we did. Everything was just fun, even more so than usual. And when we scrimmaged, the team that was mostly comprised of Knockouts totally kicked the other team's ass! So we're awesome and we rock socks etc. rah rah rah.
I have almost been writing lately, which is great. I kind of stopped writing in the crazy leadup to the Feb 10th bout, and now it's March 20th and I still am not writing, and that's bad. This is a long hiatus, for me. I am at sticking points with all my original fiction. Oddly I've been wanting to write fanfiction, but that's kind of, I dunno, itchy. And then today I was driving and figured out the rental car's CD changer and suddenly had a fully-formed character pop into my head, an offshoot of the novel I did for NaNoWriMo that had no ending-- it was one of the big secondary characters, reformed, years later, more interesting. And i thought, you know, maybe I ought to tell her story, and all the shit I wrote in November last year should just be the background research worldbuilding I had to do to create her?
Maybe.
If any of you read along (did I post things? I don't remember) in November, I'm talking about Haika, and all I know for sure about her now is that she likes to drive fast cars, and sass cops. Which, given who she started out as in November (a very prickly teenage Bronze Age sorceress), isn't surprising.
