T-minus 17 days

dragonlady7I turn 27 on the 26th. I have no real plans to celebrate yet, although I've requested the day off from work.
I have decided to try to submit my novel to at least one agent or editor by that date. (Well, by the Friday before or the Monday after, if I really want to get technical.
The novel isn't quite finished; it needs polishing at the end. But I've finished the middle, and there aren't any major bits yet still to write. It's done enough to send out the requisite query-letter-plus-three-chapters, certainly, and even if someone right away writes back requesting a full, well then, it's a problem I'd love to have. But given that I work better under pressure, I figure I'd give myself this deadline.
What I need is a title. I need a title. I can't query for an "as yet untitled fantasy novel of 120,000 words". That would sound retarded.
I am going to read the thing today and come up with some titles. Anyone who would like to help is welcome. I'll be posting a poll later, for sure. Often titles suggest themselves to me, but this one's taken me so long and so much agony I really haven't found anything.
I also have a zillion bookmarks about where to look up agents, and how to put together a query letter, and what-have-you, but can't think of any right now. Suggestions are welcome, of course. (I'm great at doing my homework and then forgetting it when I need what I learned.)
Anyhow. This entry is mostly to serve as a statement of intent. If I don't set this deadline, I'll never finish the thing. I've been working on it too long and need to start trying to shove it out the door or I'll never let go.
Anyone who'd like to volunteer to go over the first chapter to see if they'd auto-reject it would earn my undying love and gratitude and stuff. I've been over it fourteen times, and I've had one beta reader critique it, but more would be so much better.

In other news I took a bike ride today and my thighs are all noodley. Yay noodley!
And in other other knews Z's mom called to ask to borrow my bread machine, as she's making piragi. The problem is that I don't own a bread machine. But just this morning I found leftover ones she'd brought back from San Diego with her and had given to Z, and we ate them, and I said "this dough is different. it's really good!" and it turns out she'd made it in Krista's bread machine. OHHHH SO GOOD.
I am filled with the temptation to buy a bread machine just to give to her to make piragi. They're super good.
She's making them for dinner tonight. We're going to Z's aunt's house, because his cousin is in town. I've never met this cousin, in four years now. So obviously she doesn't come home often. I'd say I hope she's cool but it's not like she'd be around much so it probably doesn't matter. Z says he doesn't really remember.
The pepper plants I gave Z's mom are growing purple peppers, which is deeply cool. I might ask her to save some seeds. I'm becoming a crazy seed-saving lady; I let my lettuce go to seed and am collecting them. How weird is that? But the morning glories proved that you get great germination rates from fresh saved seeds like that, so... Time to make and label tiny envelopes.
