At work, I have been doing prodict photo shoots to sell used gear online so I had headphones on. The last thing up on my Google Play was a reggaeton radio station, as that was my sister’s request while cleaning the basement.
The highlight of my morning was possibly Pitbull’s “Culo” because he uses enough English that I can follow when he goes into Spanish so I can confidently tell you what that song is about and I definitely learned some new words so go me.
To relate it to space Latinos, though, I’m headcanoning that Poe gets super offended when people ask him to translate reggaeton songs for them when there’s an inevitable crossover pop hit, because he’s not that kind of space Latino and actually doesn’t really know a lot of the slang. (The basis being that reggaeton is Caribbean and while Oscar Isaac is half-Cuban, he has linked the Poe character to his Guatemalan heritage and blah blah. My point being, there’s gotta be similar diversity of space Latinos. Oh maybe Kes is space-Carribean and Poe is super-embarrassed when Kes totally knows all the slang.)
