Manager of Local Bar: Oh, you're not working tonight.
Me: I'm not?
Manager of Local Bar: I thought you knew, you're only working the nights Fred doesn't want.
Me: Is Fred coming in tonight, then? He said he'd call me if he wanted to work.
Manager: Well, no, Sarah's working tonight.
Me: ... Oh. OK. Well, will you be making schedules in the future so I'll know? (Politely.)
Manager: You're not working next Thurs. either.
Me: I wish you'd told me earlier. You know, I could have gone home to see my family before Christmas, but I don't know if I have time now. But I could've gone today, if I'd known I wasn't working.
Manager: ...
Me: See you next week.
*goes home, tries to call mom, phone is busy for an hour, screams and cries.*
