a different sort of picture of the day
Oct. 23rd, 2004 05:49 pmI got ambitious today and decided I was going to use that tablet pen I have. So I drew another picture of the heroine.
It's hard to use a tablet. You can get a lot of effects but damn, it takes a lot of getting used to.
I still don't know her name, but she kind of has a face.
She ended up a lot more cartoonish than I anticipated. She's not really so skinny.
Click "more" to see the full-size version. (466 x 500 pixels, smallish filesize-- black and white, not high quality.)

I don't know what point of the story this is. I rather imagined she was sitting on a ship. She's dressed in Scandinavian style, with the oval brooches and (badly drawn) Thor pendant. And yes, I couldn't resist Danielle Cormack's hair, which may prove plot-significant.
She's not meant to be quite so skinny. I've already described her to myself as 'sturdily built' and that's, er, not happening in this drawing. But hey! It's not bad for being six years out of the habit and unused to the tablet. (Some of this was done with the mouse. Tidbit: I didn't realize, but I'm right-handed with a mouse, slightly. I switch, but when trying to draw I had to use my right hand for the mouse and left [of course] for the tablet's pen.)
So I'll send this to Abbie and you'll see what wonders she works. I'm thinking pen-and-ink would be a good medium for the illustrations...
