Ugh.

Not still awake: Awake already.
Slept in Dave's bed and couldn't sleep. Dog kept waking me up, fussing and fidgeting, making nests out of my clothes that I'd put on the floor when I got in the bed, and making strange noises. I keep assuming she's going to poop or something, and it wakes me up fully to glare at her and see what she's doing.

Add to that the fact that Dave has kicked all the sheets off the bed, so he sleeps only under the comforter, which is quite rough and scratchy, and it's not very comfortable there.

So I'm up, unable to sleep, feeling oogy, and it's not even 4 yet. I guarantee you, I am going to get into my bed (with its soft sheets and lack of dog), and either the cat or the dog is going to come in and demand something. They'll probably let me fall most of the way asleep first...

Grrrmble. Me= not temperamentally suited for so much as a cat, let alone a real baby. I don't know why people feel I should want one. I know fine well a fish is quite possibly beyond my ability to care for.

Stupid freaking dog. I had to hit her yesterday. She knocked over the garbage can in my room and stole something from it, then hid under the bed. I looked under the bed, saw that she had something, and scolded her and tried to take it. She growled and snapped at me.

Well now. I'm afraid that's not acceptable. I am the one with the opposable thumbs and the checkbook, and I do not get snapped at by cheeky beagles.

So I hauled her out from under the bed-- she was sitting on the trundle bed, so it was a simple matter of pulling out the trundle bed, and there she sat, looking a bit disconcerted, no longer safe in a hidey-hold but out in the middle of the room. I then retrieved the item she had growled at me over.

What was it?

The label off of a new pair of pants, which I had thrown in the garbage after removing it from my clothing.

I can only guess that its proximity to a discarded gum wrapper made it smell enticing. But honestly: what a bonehead.

added: Aww. This morning when I got out of bed, Dave came down and plaintively asked, "where did you go?" He hadn't noticed me leave and was confused when he awoke to an empty bed. He also claims to have been sad, but that was in response to my question of whether he was sad, so it's a little dubious. But still, the boy is learning.
