Having had some experience handling deer, "precious" is not a word I would apply. The babies are cute, and the adults sometimes manage "regal" or "majestic" or "mysterious" when they're not eating expensive landscaping, but "precious" seems... odd for a species that is half 'King of the Forest' and half 'nuisance wildlife'.
