Z decided yesterday that he needed to be Creative, so he made teriyaki salmon. He didn't use the bottle of teriyaki soy sauce we've had in our fridge for two years, because he wanted to make his own. However, we only had 1/4 cup of sake. So he used... sake, sherry, white wine, beer, and honey liqueur.
And oh yes, some Lapsang Suochong tea.

It was good, it just sort of, well, dirtied every dish in the kitchen. We don't cry over that.

He also has recently invented a new drink. A common enough drink (among old folks and, well, me) is a Rusty Nail, which is two parts Scotch to one part Drambuie.
During an inspired trip to the liquor store to pick up more whiskey so we could make bailey's, we ended up buying half the store, as usual. And Z came up with the following, which I can assure you is excellent on a chilly evening:

Frosty Nail
2 oz Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey
1 oz Yukon Jack liqueur

Pour over ice.

In other news, a coworker's getting the axe and i'm being nice and covering shifts for some extra dough. So, next week I'll have a shitty, shitty schedule, 5 days with no 2 consecutive off, but it's a one-time thing I hope and I'll be smugly financially secure for a bit. I'm actually just starting to plan ahead, and have realized that with my tax refund I can pay off the smaller of my two student loans, and then I'm going to start feeling like a Grown-Up.
