dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (dork)
So I'm looking at my site logs, which I do almost daily-- I just kinda scroll through the raw log looking for stuff, which is ridiculous because I get more traffic than that. (The vast, vast majority of my traffic, by the way, remains spam-bots looking for my comments.cgi (I renamed it and they found the rename) to comment-spam my MT blog, even though Google has enacted complicated measures to ensure that comment-spam links don't increase the ranking of the linked-to sites in the slightest bit, thereby rendering the entire comment-spam industry TOTALLY futile. Additionally, I took my MT blog offline... Six months ago? Mmm, smells like futility.)
And I've been noticing a lot of people loading the main page of the mini-website of my sister's wedding photos. (Easy to spot, because there are about 40 thumbnails that load in quick succession, which takes up 40 lines of the log.) Finally I looked close enough to find the referral string.
MSN Search. What were they searching for? Wow, I outrank ALL OTHER SMITHS! )

And yes, I am aware it is not yet 5 am, but I am awake and that is that. I do not have to be at work until 3, and this means I can finish my, ehm, literary masterpiece and post it before I go, so y'all can spend the weekend reading it to get psyched for Valentine's Day, when I'm still planning on posting the utterly unromantic Ch. 7 of the Vikings Novel. (Ha! I fooled you! You thought I was slacking off and not working on it! You were... right. But I'm still going to manage it. Gah, I was going to do it yesterday but I actually had to work at work and what a bummer that is...)

Feel free to save the Valentine's stuff for the actual day, I just thought some might appreciate the chance to read it over the weekend, in case they're busy Monday, doing constructive things like working and sending anti-valentines, both of which may be difficult to do while reading porn I mean serious literature.

OK, it's almost 5 am. I better get crackin' on my... literature.
(edit: I am shitty at closing parentheses before dawn, it seems. There is a joke or a pun or something in there waiting to happen but I've no idea.)

hmph

I know, I know, I'm totally filling up your friends-pages and you're going to have to page back to see the things that your other, non-blathering friends wrote. I hope I don't get friends-filtered. (You did know that you could do that, make a filter so you could read your friends-page with me not on it, and yet I'd never know because it's not like you had to unfriend me to do it, right? You'd never do that to me, right? Hello? ... Crap.) (edit: All right, all right, I'll cut: that is taking up an awful lot of space though I didn't think it was so long.)
distraction: important for staying focused? )

Huh.

I'm only getting notification of every other comment or so.
So if you say something and I don't answer, please do comment again.

OK, when I had this idea it was simple. I was going to write a quickie smut scene and post it in my journal on Valentine's Day, and encourage everyone else to do the same. But that didn't work out.
Instead I've made not one but three smut scenes. And they're not short, particularly.
But they were so much fun to do, see, and I just couldn't help myself, see, and they were such a great break from The Novel I Was Taking Too Seriously...
So yeah.

I present to you, early so you have time to read it this weekend if you prefer (though by all means save it for Valentine's evening if that's better), Valentine's 2005: Porn With Plot: Three smut stories from late Third Age / early Fourth Age Middle-earth, all featuring either Eomer or Lothiriel. Or both, yes: I didn't leave that out. (I am not so cruel.)

Yes, it's in offensive colors for the holidays, but it ought to be more legible than some of the tiny-font, blue-on-black archives out there. Lemme know if you want a black-on-white version.

and now I'll witter on about them )
Concrit, feedback or not, as you prefer: this was primarily for fun. Mostly I just want to know:

*smokes candy cigarette* Was it as good for you as it was for me?

Am feeling vaguely ill in a multitude of ways, very vague ways, which all combine to tell me that I am not, in fact, ill, and have no excuse therefore to call in sick to work tomorrow.

*smokes another candy cigarette* Fanfic is addictive. I am filled, filled I tell you, with a desire to write Eomund / Theodwyn porn. Almost beyond bearing. (You know they'd be kinky.) And there is a tiny part of me, now that the slash cherry has been popped, that totally wants to slash Denethor and Thorongil. (Think about it. For just a minute. *weebles*)

But I know that would be crossing the line. The little break for the Valentine's porn (I spent less than six days, all told, working on that, I'll have you know) was one thing, but continuing it now is just being weak and silly. I have got to get back to that novel. I did sketch out, on paper, unusually for me, an excellent revision of Ch. 7's climactic scene which makes it way more exciting, and i should be psyched to commit that to bytes but cannae summon the oomph to do much of anything. (I sort of want to lie around and read 2970s-era (Third Age) Gondorian/Rohirric angst-fic. [Thengel dies, Ecthelion dies, Umbar is attacked, Thorongil leaves, Theodwyn marries Eomund, Elfhild wife of Theoden dies, Theodred is born-- not in that order, but c'mon guys. Who writes about this era? Why does nobody write about this era?] but oh, man, if you know of any don't tell me because i have to get back to 900s-era Wales.)
