i know a dude. i’ve hung out with him a couple times in the last few years. in person, he’s mostly entertaining. sometimes he says shit that’s annoying. nothing too horribly draining. i generally consider him okay to be around, and am amused by him sometimes, although he occasionally seizes on really maddening things to pick up as running jokes, and i have in the past occasionally had to say things like “buddy… no. stop.” No big. Mostly harmless. I don’t care that much in real life.

I blocked him on facebook like, three years ago I think, it was just too much. He really likes libertarianism, with all the 101-level Problematic shit that goes along with that. (Look, I was super into libertarianism too… when I was thirteen. Basically as soon as I read a fucking book I got over it, but when I was an actual child, I thought it was a keen idea. So I’m not totally unsympathetic, except for the fact that this is a grown-ass man with a wife and a baby.)

He’s popped up on Twitter since the election and is… I think he thinks this is something people do for fun. He keeps, more or less, sealioning me. And i honestly can’t tell when he’s joking and when he’s serious. I tersely slap him a rebuttal each time, because it’s always basic shit, and like, half the time he’s like, “i know but” and the other half he’s like “i was kidding”.

I finally said, “I don’t find any of your stuff funny lately, maybe cut it out.” and he was like ‘oh i hope you feel better!’

And i’m like, “i hope you figure out how to be funny,” but i deleted that and just said “thanks :)” because fuck, really?

Ugh. WHY ARE DUDES LIKE THIS.

i just have to keep reminding myself that from an objective, historical standpoint, this is a really interesting era to be living in and i should definitely start a dead tree format journal documenting it because idk if an online archive will last if the servers are in the US

i’m scared as hell but fuck it, that shit might wind up in a textbook someday

I actually wrote that in my bullet journal the other day. I was like, “if it all goes down and this book full of my to-do lists is the only fucking thing that survives wouldn’t that be peachy? Hi, future. You’re probably aliens, aren’t you? I should draw more pictures in this, then.”

blackraincloud:

Key facts

• Lead is a cumulative toxicant that affects multiple body systems and is particularly harmful to young children.

• Lead in the body is distributed to the brain, liver, kidney and bones. It is stored in the teeth and bones, where it accumulates over time. Human exposure is usually assessed through the measurement of lead in blood.

• Lead in bone is released into blood during pregnancy and becomes a source of exposure to the developing fetus.

• There is no known level of lead exposure that is considered safe.

• Lead poisoning is entirely preventable.

(Quoted from the WHO fact sheet on lead poisoning.)

THERE IS NO KNOWN LEVEL OF LEAD EXPOSURE CONSIDERED SAFE.

THERE IS NO KNOWN LEVEL OF LEAD EXPOSURE CONSIDERED SAFE.

THERE IS NO KNOWN LEVEL OF LEAD EXPOSURE CONSIDERED SAFE.

THERE IS NO KNOWN LEVEL OF LEAD EXPOSURE CONSIDERED SAFE.

Even if the state *HAD* lowered lead levels in Flint water (they haven’t. Cheeto in Chief n'em raised the acceptable federal limit of lead in water) THAT IS STILL UNSAFE WATER.

There is still an entire city forced to pay for poison water. Thousands of sick people who need help. Whose homes now have zero value.

Who haven’t had potable water since 2014.

FLINT STILL DOES NOT HAVE SAFE WATER!
